The Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) will be seeking applications from non-profit institutions of higher education, located in the United States or its territories, to operate University Transportation Centers. The purpose of these centers is to advance U.S. technology and expertise in the many modes and disciplines comprising transportation through the mechanisms of research, education, and technology transfer; to provide a critical transportation knowledge base outside the US DOT; and to address vital workforce needs for the next generation of transportation leaders.
The official release of a solicitation for applications will be made through Grants.gov (the solicitation will also be posted on this website), and applications for funding must be submitted through Grants.gov. The UTC Program’s Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number is 20.701.

The application phase of the University Transportation Centers Program 2013 Grant Competition is now complete. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) received a total of 142 applications for the up-to-35 University Transportation Centers that US DOT may select through this competition.
