Mgeu Community Support Collective Agreement

The new treaty provides for general wage increases each year, improvements to the health expenditure account, the implementation of a medically prescribed direct payments plan and employment security provisions for the duration of the agreement. The contract applies from March 30, 2014 to March 23, 2019. Now that the contract has been ratified, the MGEU bargaining committee will meet with its employer to finalize the details of the contract and sign the agreement so that it can be printed and distributed to members. In Manitoba, approximately 49,000 unionized health care workers work at more than 300 sites. They are included in more than 190 tariff units and are covered by the same number of individual collective agreements. There are 13 unions and several employers involved in the negotiation and management of these collective agreements. The Health Tariff Unit Review Act aims to simplify this structure. Existing collective agreements for workers close to workers continue to apply, regardless of which union wins the vote. Wages, benefits, seniority and other working conditions set out in their existing collective agreement apply to workers after the vote. MGEU/NUPGE members at the AFM provide thousands of Manitobans with a wide range of addiction services across the province. Negotiations began in 2014 and, after a long and difficult series of negotiations, union members and the employer reached an interim agreement in February. Existing agreements remain in force until the successful union and the employers` organization negotiate a new collective agreement.

No one from a union or employer can guarantee what this collective agreement will contain or when an agreement is reached. The union that gets the most votes in each election will be the successful union. For example, in the Northern RHA, the new bargaining unit for companies that support the facilities will include classifications that are currently in bargaining units represented by the following unions (in alphabetical order): CUPE, MAHCP, MGEU and UFCW. These four unions will participate in a ballot paper and may be chosen by voters. Food aid in the northern RHA can participate in the vote on the representation of the negotiating units in support of the North Rhine Mechanism group. Some, but not all, employers` organizations will have the two remaining new bargaining units: MGEU members are negotiating improvements in wages, health care and job security. Representation votes are carried out as part of an electronic voting procedure. This process allows employees to choose from anywhere by connecting to a voting site from any computer or smartphone or using a touch-sounding phone.

Detailed instructions on when and how to vote will be given later in the process. Employers are divided into 6 employers` organisations for industrial relations, each with between 5 and 7 new bargaining units. If, at present, only one union represents union classifications that are included in the new bargaining unit, there is no need for a vote. . The total number of bargaining units in the new structure will be 36. If two or more workers are currently represented in classifications integrated into a new bargaining unit, a representation vote is held to determine which union will represent all workers in this new bargaining unit.
